Since 1971, RSVP has been connecting people age 55 and over with opportunities that focus on compelling needs in the Worcester area. RSVP has more than five hundred members who serve at over 70 local public and non-profit agencies in the greater Worcester area. RSVP volunteers offer a vital service to our community, by providing a cost-effective solution to gaps in resources. Each year, RSVP volunteers contribute tens of thousands of hours of service, which saves the community more than $1.6 million annually.
Once enrolled in RSVP, you will be provided with information on a variety of assignments available with RSVP's Signature Programs and our partner agencies. Our goal is to connect you with a volunteer site and activity that suites your interests, skills, and schedule. You can serve as few or as many hours as is convenient for you. You may also serve at more than one site. Opportunities are flexible and so the decision is entirely up to you.
Some Background Information:
RSVP Worcester Area Volunteers is a non-profit organization that is a part of the Senior Corps program and sponsored nationally by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), who also heads Americorps and Learn and Serve. Senior Corps also includes the Foster Grandparents and Senior Companion Programs. Located at the Worcester Senior Center, RSVP is locally sponsored by Family Services of Central Massachusetts.
Why Join RSVP?
Volunteering in itself provides many opportunities to individuals, like the opportunity to learn new skills, meet others with similar interests, and make a difference in your community. In addition to the personal rewards, RSVP offers additional benefits for which you may not otherwise be eligible if you seek out the volunteer opportunity on your own. These benefits are designed to make an RSVP member's experience as worry-free and rewarding as possible.
